La Lancha – Life in the Tree Tops
La Lancha sits above the shimmering Lake Peten Itza, eye level with the tree tops. A troop of howler monkeys often traverse the trees at dawn awakening the jungle with their cacophony. “This is MY jungle they scream—you’re just visiting.” Abundant bird life is all around, from the Blue Crowned Motmots and Keel Billed Toucans to the raucous Mealy Parrots that descend on the bread fruit tree on the path to the main lodge at dusk. Venture out to the great Mayan ruins of Tikal and delight in the antics of bands of coatimundi, mischievous spider monkeys and the regal beauty of the Montezuma Oropendola. Visit the La Lancha section for further information on this lodge surrounded by breath-taking panoramic views.

Turtle Inn – The World Below Us
The curious and gentle whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean and from March through early June, they gather in the Placencia area in large numbers. Explore the dazzling deep blue sea on a snorkel or scuba dive with one of our PADI certified dive boats. Manatees and dolphins abound in the turquoise blue water. A dizzying variety of neon colored fish of all sizes makes each trip a delight. Continue to the Turtle Inn section for more on this spectacular seafront hideaway.

Blancaneaux Lodge – In the Realm of the Jaguar
The unique and uninhabited ecosystem that straddles the pine ridge is the realm of the jaguar, puma, ocelot, tapir, brocket deer and Black Howler Monkey. Big cat expert and biologist Dr. Marcella Kelly and her team from Virginia Tech use Blancaneaux Lodge as its jaguar research base when in Belize. Visit the jaguar research transect areas where your trained guide will show you the remote cameras and explain the collection and interpretation of the data. After lunch ‘in the field’ lodge study the information and images extracted from the cameras’ memory cards. This area has one of the highest densities of jaguar in the Americas according to Dr. Kelly’s research. Visit the Blancaneaux Lodge section to learn more about our luxury resort tucked away in this jungle paradise.
